Dr Shefali was recently featured on Greatest Hits Radio Northamptonshire, speaking out on an issue she feels strongly about. As demand for weight loss injections continues to climb, Dr Shefali added her voice to growing concerns around unregulated products, urging people to be cautious about where they obtain their treatments and warning that buying from unverified sources can carry serious, and in some cases fatal, risks.
Her comments came after officers from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, supported by Northamptonshire Police, seized around 12,000 doses of unlicensed slimming jabs near the town in what the MHRA described as its largest ever seizure of illegal weight loss medicines. As Dr Shefali explained, products bought outside legitimate channels could be fake, contaminated, or contain toxic substances, and patients may not be given the proper guidance needed to use and store them safely.
As a GP who has seen patients come in with complications from unregulated treatments, patient safety sits at the heart of everything Dr Shefali does at her clinic. These are medical treatments, and in her view they should only ever be supplied and monitored by a qualified healthcare professional. It is exactly why she only offers treatments that are medically sound, evidence based, and delivered with proper clinical oversight.
